Terms of Service
Last updated: July 9, 2026
Agreement to Terms
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of Askee, including the browser extension, website, and related services (together, the “Service”). By installing the extension, creating an account, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
The Service
Askee is a Chrome extension that lets you chat on and with any website, YouTube video, or document, with answers that link back to the source. We may add, change, or remove features over time as we improve the Service.
Accounts
- You can sign in with a one-time email code or with Google. You must provide accurate information and keep it up to date.
- You are responsible for activity that occurs under your account and for keeping access to your email and sign-in methods secure.
- Accounts are personal: one account per person, and you may not share, sell, or transfer your account.
Subscriptions and Billing
- The Service offers a free plan with usage limits and paid plans with additional capacity and features.
- Payments for paid plans are processed by our third-party payment provider, Stripe. We never receive or store your full card details.
- Paid plans renew automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel. You can cancel at any time, and your plan remains active until the end of the current billing period. Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable.
- If we change our prices, we will give you reasonable advance notice before the new price applies to your next renewal.
Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of the rights of others, including the terms of the websites and content you interact with.
- Abuse, overload, or disrupt the Service, or attempt to circumvent usage limits, rate limits, or plan restrictions.
- Scrape, resell, or provide automated access to the Service without our permission.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the Service, except where permitted by law.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or another user’s account or data.
Your Content
You retain all rights to the questions you ask, the content you highlight or upload, and the pages you choose to chat with. You grant us a limited license to process that content solely to operate and provide the Service — for example, sending it to our AI providers to generate an answer and storing your conversations so you can revisit them. How we handle your data is described in our Privacy Policy.
You are responsible for the content you submit and for ensuring you have the right to use it with the Service.
AI-Generated Content
Answers are generated by third-party AI models and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date, even when they link back to a source. You should verify important information before relying on it. Answers are provided for general informational purposes only and do not constitute professional, legal, medical, or financial advice.
Intellectual Property
The Service — including the extension, website, software, design, and the Askee name and branding — is owned by us and protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our trademarks or branding. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service in accordance with these Terms.
Third-Party Services and Websites
The Service interacts with third-party websites, videos, and documents that you choose, and relies on third-party providers (such as AI model providers and payment processing) to operate. We are not responsible for third-party content, services, or websites, and your use of them is governed by their own terms.
Termination
You can stop using the Service and request deletion of your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service. Upon termination, the sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive (such as intellectual property, disclaimers, and limitation of liability) will continue to apply.
Disclaimers
The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that answers will be accurate.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of the Service. Our total liability for all claims relating to the Service is limited to the amounts you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or, if you have paid nothing, to a nominal amount. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the operator of the Service is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction, unless the mandatory consumer-protection laws of your place of residence provide otherwise.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, for significant changes, provide a more prominent notice. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
